KKS XI: 482 紀貫之 Ki no Tsurayuki
| 逢ふことは 雲ゐはるかに なる神の おとにききつつ こひ渡るかな |
あふことは くもゐはるかに なるかみの おとにききつつ こひわたるかな |
Vocabulary:
神 － 「神」の旧字体、この場合は「雷」という意味
の － 「のように」の省略
おと － 「音に聞く」の形で、「噂」の意味
渡る － （補助動詞）、ずっと～しつづける
MJ Translation
逢うことは雲の彼方のもの。遥かに鳴る雷のように（あなた）の噂を耳にしていて、ずっと恋しつづけるよ
English Translation
The act of meeting is a matter beyond the clouds; as I hear rumors of you like thunder rumbling far-off, I am loving you all the while.
KKS XI: 487 詠み人不明 Author Unknown
| ちはやぶる かもの社の ゆふだすき ひとひも君を かけぬ日はなし |
ちはやぶる かものやしろの ゆふだすき ひとひもきみを かけぬひはなし |
Vocabulary:
ちはやぶる － 荒々しい
かも － 「賀茂」地名
社 － 「神官」に当たる換喩
ゆふ・木綿 ー 桑でできている紐
たすき － 袖を止めるための紐
MJ Translation
荒々しい賀茂の神官の木綿襷（がかけられるように）一日も君に想いを掛けない日はない
English Translation
Just as the tasuki of the priests of the desolate Kamo Shrine are tied everyday, there is not even a single day where my feelings are not tied to you.
KKS XI: 489 詠み人不明 Author Unknown
| するがなる たごの浦浪 たたぬひは あれども君を こひぬ日ぞなき |
するがなる たごのうらなみ たたぬひは あれどもきみを こひぬひはなし |
Vocabulary:
するが － 「駿河」地名
なる － にある
たご － 「田子」地名
浦浪 － 海岸に打ち寄せる波
MJ Translation
駿河にある田子で、波が海岸に打ち寄せない日はあるけれども、君を想わない日はない。
English Translation
At Kago in Suruga, there are days in which waves do not break on the shore, but there is never a day that I do not think of you.
